This review is my esteemed colleagues Swiss DomPatHug dedicated, which I recommended this book for obvious reasons, and Diane Duane who got lost one day on my little blog.

That does not mean the same that Diane Duane does not follow the guidelines. On the contrary, especially the classic series as a guide.
This can be as seen from the fact that a motive is recycled from a very special episode: As in "Balance of Terror " is the good old " submarine atmosphere " as a basis for a space battle. What in the series exciting and tragic comes along, drives, or flies, no, better yet, swimming (maybe 'dips') here fully against the wall.
Like the rest of the book, this section in the writing too long and space battles in terms of previous series and films (think of the USS Reliant ) is far too unreliable. The appetite goes by the reader at least at that moment entirely, in which Vice Captain McCoy in the middle of a small snack break begrudge maneuver (see p. 246). Not exactly a prime example of the power and credibility of the plot.
And when speaking of credibility, we should also not fail to mention the Klingons.
