House of the Dead: Overkill

Many older Nintendo fans are happy about the fact that in addition to the many party games and horse hardly material for mature Gamer semester on Nintendo's Wii console is. Apparently a lot of blood must have games, an arsenal of weapons, lots of swear words and sex eien pinch, in the eyes of some to be considered "serious". Software company Sega, it has since taken on the task to serve exactly these players - and throw fortunately a shred of respectability over the side. The question is naturally HOUSE OF THE DEAD: OVERKILL to be, the fifth part of the famous rail shooter series, it has even managed to dubious honor, a film by Uwe Boll. But beware: OVERKILL is not officially released in Germany, because you do not challenge but thanks to the very rough violence content, the PSP did. Ironically, there is the extra developed for this game and now, including that promoted Wiimote support in this country. About appropriate marketing, we talk but rather some other time ..

is in a small town in the American state of Louisiana to the evil. In the form of hundreds of bloodthirsty zombies, which it seeks the flesh of the still living. Fortunately, there are two men who oppose the whole decided: the police officer Isaac Washington and a mysterious government official, who only as "Agent G" is known. Although the two different men initially harbor no sympathy for them, they fight together and are - how do it every "buddy" movie proud would - to become true friends, while they kill each other through abandoned property, swamps, fairs and trains. They are the criminals opaque Papa Caesar's tricks, which apparently seems to be behind the mutations. Or maybe not? To have fathomed the two law enforcement officials, the truth will pave countless corpses, myriads and thousands of liters of blood coming from my heart "Fuck!" curses her way.

You notice the same, in HOUSE OF THE DEAD: OVERKILL truly it's not serious. It presents the genre, the Characters and the whole production with a big dose of irony and self-reflection, than according to Quentin Tarantino and the recent GRINDHOUSE movies (especially PLANET TERROR) orientation. At the beginning it is surprising that a game appears on a family-friendly console vermeindlich: Because cursing, pissed and fucked (well, the latter than in the wishful thinking of the protagonists), until the walls shake. And the supposed final gag is just awesome (I do not want to reveal more).

is controlled by the whole Wiimote. OVER KILL allows even the WiiZapper and the above-mentioned ratchet, but real purists should waive this Tinnef. With the remote control but it popped simply the best. Graphically, the game displays mixed: While some levels (especially the carnival area) and enemies look really great and impressive, nerves elsewhere clipping errors, muddy textures and missing details. Especially nice but is a filter effect that reaches throughout the game and gives the impression that we are dealing with a scratched film. The sound is compared to the managed consistently. The speakers do their job, play the part very funny and rude text, very good, the sound effects go through and through, and the music just sounds cool.

Shock therapy in terms of nurse-fetish

squeamish should at HOUSE OF THE DEAD: OVERKILL make a bow. While the brutality of the ironic staging is put into perspective, what is offered, however, remains violent but sometimes. The same applies to the curse-containing dialogues. This is also the first real criticism of the game: At the beginning of the jokes and the method behind the provocative act still entertaining. But as time has the whole effort and loses its effect. At the same time the game is not too long. If, on an extensive Zocksession, it may be that it rapidly has seen it all - even if, after one play through with the Director's Cut longer Levels be isolated. And last but not least: This is simply geballert only. Now and then there is indeed an opportunity to determine the path, but ultimately it's all about a responsive wrist and a swift trigger finger. This is fun for the high-score hunting, but a little boring in the long run.

HOUSE OF THE DEAD: OVERKILL must be a direct comparison to RESIDENT EVIL: THE UMBRELLA CHRONICLES can (also not published in Germany) like. And since Sega's Zombiehatz takes despite all the coolness just lose out (the level in the train is even completely stolen from RESIDENT EVIL!). The competition is simply more complex, offers a better technology and a more exciting story. Nevertheless, OVERKILL a good way to deal until the next "Resi" part on a Nintendo console. One has to let the guys from Sega namely: Such a weird story with as much humor directed at adults has donated no one the Wii.
